Statement regarding martyrs of Afrin
- YPG Press Office |July 24, 2021 | Press Releases

The Turkish state has occupied Afrin for more than 3 years. The Turkish state and its mercenaries factions, who do not hesitate to carry out all kinds of inhuman practices in our occupied lands in front of the whole world, continue the massacre of nature in the most brutal way, as well as changing the demography. All of the cemeteries of our martyrs, who are our highest values, were destroyed by inhumane practices, and the bodies of the resistance martyrs were excavated from the cemetery on July 14-15.
Turkey attempted to use the cemetery, in which the bodies of our 71 fighters and civilians killed in 2018 during the Turkish attacks are buried, against us to smear the revolution. 14 YPG members, 12 YPJ members, 5 Asayiş members, 3 Cebhet El-Ekrad, 1 Self-Defense member, 5 civilians who took part in this heroic resistance and are buried in that cemetery. The other 31 bodies are those of people who took their part in the resistance and fighters whose identities are not clear.
The names of our YPG and YPJ fighters in this cemetery were announced before, along with the dates of their martyrdom. We consider it our duty to share the names of our martyrs, who were identified by us and whose bodies were found in this cemetery, with our people and the public.
The cemeteries of Martyr Seydo, Martyr Refik, and Martyr Avesta have been destroyed by inhumane practices by the Turkish state only in Afrin so far. No one can remain silent against this brutal approach. Being silent is equivalent to being a partner.
We believe that everybody not only in Northern Syria and Rojava, but all over the world, will take action against the attacks carried out by the Turkish state and its mercenaries against our people.
