Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlusaid on Tuesday that the People's Protection Units would withdraw from the Syrian city of Manbijstarting on July 4 after being disarmed according to the road map between Turkey and the United States.

We affirm to our people and the public opinion that these statements are false and far from reality, and are circulated by the Turkish state-run media only for domestic political purposes, especially as propaganda before upcoming presidential elections on June 24th. We once again reiterate that our units had withdrawn from the city of Manbaj after its liberation from the terrorists in August 2016 and the city was handed over to the Manbij Military Council and the civilian administration.

We as the People's Protection Units are committed to the road map of Global Coalition and the Manbij Military Council, which ensures that there will be no Turkish military presence or any of its mercenary factions in the city of Manbij or its countryside and that the Manbij Military Council will continue to protect the city and its borders from any kinds of aggression.
