STATEMENT # 20161108

After successful commencement of Operation Wrath of Euphrates (the campaign to liberate Raqqa from Daesh terrorists) Turkish army’s attacks against the People’s Defense Units (YPG) / Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) and Rojava-Northern Syria soil have been increasingly intensified. Just as the Defense Units are actively participating in a joint campaign to liberate the city of Raqqa, Turkish state tries to attack us from behind and damage our units.

In this context, last night (November 7) the Turkish army desperately tried to infiltrate two groups of terrorist elements into Rojava-Northern Syria through two separate locations.

The first location where the Turkish army attempted to cross terrorists into Rojava was near the village of Doda between the cities Qamishlo and Amude. Along with two armored vehicles and a disguised civilian car 12 individuals were arrived at Rojava border at about 7 pm. Clashes broke out in the area as the Defense Units did not hesitate to respond. Yet the noted terrorists dreadfully tried to move into Rojava soil as Turkish army vehicles were shelling the Defense Units. In that conflict, two of the Turkey-guided terrorists were confirmed wounded, the rest of attackers were forced to withdraw and the two casualties were evacuated by Turkish APCs.

The second place where the terrorists attempted yet another infiltration into Rojava was near the border of Kobane. With the support of Turkish army, the terrorist forces at 7 pm closed in on Rojava border, without realizing that they were being carefully monitored by Rojava defense forces. At 7:30 pm the Defense Units intervened and directly responded to the joint aggression. The fight there lasted until 12 O’clock as the attackers were trying to fire back at the Defense Units – later on the terrorists were forced back to Turkey.

Simultaneously Turkish army’s armored vehicles on the border of Girkê Legê and Dêrik cities were practicing an uninterrupted movement.

The Turkish army at the same time, once again utilized different types of heavy weapons and indiscriminately fired at Gelbenav, Koran and Elsen villages near the border city of Girê Spî (Tal Abyad).

Daesh (ISIS) Attacks
At 12.30 h, November 7, Daesh terrorists assaulted the village Malha (Şedadê) with heavy weapons and an armored vehicle. At the same time, they shelled the village Azawî with mortars and heavy weapons.
